European Language Passport

Documentation of Language Levels

The European Language Passport can be used to document language skills for job applications. It can also be used if you simply wish to assess your language abilities and qualifications. The Language Passport is based on the official Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and is a component of the European Language Portfolio developed by the Council of Europe. It can be done on paper or online.

The online version is available here: http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/instruments/lp/step1.do
The completed Language Passport can be downloaded as a Word document or as a .pdf file. To make changes to the Language Passport at a later date, you need to download and save the XML file.

Paper copies of the European Language Passport and the Language Portfolio are available at the Self-Access Center.
More information on and help with these documents is available at the Self-Access Center. The best way to get help is to register for an autonomous learning consultation. Advice on autonomous learning
