About us
The Language Center – a joint institution of the University and the ETH Zurich
Since 2002, the joint Language Center for the two higher education institutions in Zurich has offered a broad range of language courses. Thus, the University and the ETH Zurich recognize the growing significance of language competence in studies, research and academic as well as other professional fields.
“The Language Center of the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich is a service provider shared by the two Universities. It exists to foster the
use of foreign languages at an academic level and acts as an inter-university reference point for matters concerning the
acquisition of foreign languages and languages for specific and academic purposes.“

Within the organization of the University of Zurich, the Language Center is under the office of the Vice-President for Humanities and Social Sciences.
Our target groups
Our primary target groups are undergraduate students working towards a Lizentiat, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, exchange students, as well as holders of Swiss federal government scholarships, doctoral students, researchers, teachers and staff of the University and the ETH Zurich.
