Bachelor’s, Master’s, and exchange students at UZH and ETH Zurich are required to pay a course fee of CHF 80 for each semester course, or CHF 100 for a German as a foreign language intensive course.
Courses which make up a fixed, compulsory part of a study program, and all Latin and Ancient Greek courses, are free of charge.
There is no fee for courses that are fully funded by an organization of the UZH or ETH Zurich.
(Statutes of the Language Center of UZH and ETH Zurich of 1 August 2020 regarding §11 Fees; Appendix relating to target groups as in § 2 lit. a.)
UZH and ETH Zurich PhD/doctoral students, staff, MAS students, and alumni, as well as members of the Zurich University of Teacher Education (PHZH) and Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) are required to pay a course fee that covers the Language Center’s costs.
(Statutes of the Language Center of UZH and ETH Zurich of 1 August 2020 regarding §11 Fees; Appendix relating to target groups as in § 2 lit. b, d, e, f)
Our course fees are calculated on the basis of the number of lessons and participants in each course. For example, a typical course with 22 participants and 2 lessons a week currently costs CHF 425. Courses with larger participant numbers cost half of this, and writing courses, which have smaller participant numbers, are more expensive.
